Liberals, what's one thing that the government operates more efficiently than the market does?

One thing that the govt does better than industry is to regulate industry. Self regulation doesn't work. Thank the govt for regulating medicines, product safety, air pollution,etc. We have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. I want govt to regulate industry.
